USCIS PROPOSES TO INCREASE GOVERNMENT FILING FEES

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a proposed rule to increase many of the government filing fees by an average of approximately 20%. Below is a chart of some of the most important fee change increases. The public can comment on the proposed fee increases on the Federal Register website until July 5, 2016 and see all of the proposed fee increases at: https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2016/05/04/2016-10297/us-citizenship-and-immigration-services-fee-schedule#t-9 Future updates on the filing fee increase will be included in our firm's immigration updates.

Ms. Esther Contreras to speak at Rock River Human Resource Professional Association and Northwest Human Resources Council

Ms. Esther Contreras, a principal in the firm's Immigration Practice Group, will be the main presenter at the Rock River Human Resource Professional Association and the Northwest Human Resources Council monthly meetings to be held on May 24th in Dixon and June 9th in Schaumburg, respectively. Both organizations are affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Ms. Contreras will speak to both groups about Form I-9 compliance, providing a basic overview of the completion process, reviewing common mistakes, best practices, and will focus on recently issued government guidance and the latest version of form, the "Smart" I-9.
