Masuda Funai Elects Two Equity Principals

Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd. is proud to announce Asa W. Markel and David J. Stein as the firm’s newest equity principals.

Since joining the firm's Los Angeles office in 2012, Mr. Markel has been advising clients in regard to complex commercial transactions, including business disputes and product liability, as well as construction and employment matters. Today, he is Chair of the firm’s Commercial, Competition & Trade practice and he leads the International Trade & Logistics team, focusing on admiralty and transportation matters, including resolving disputes with U.S. Customs and avoiding violations of U.S. export and embargo controls on behalf of our multinational clients. Mr. Markel is admitted to practice in the states of California, New York, and Arizona, and is a solicitor (inactive) in England and Wales.

Mr. Stein joined Masuda Funai's Chicago office in 2015 and, as an experienced business, intellectual property, and employment litigator, has obtained significant victories for our clients across the country in dispute resolution, from pre-litigation resolution through trial, in state and federal courts, and in arbitration. Duly admitted to practice in the states of Illinois and New York, Mr. Stein currently serves as Vice Chair of the firm’s Litigation practice. He is recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Star” and a Leading Lawyers “Emerging Lawyer” and was honored with the Award For Excellence in Pro Bono Service by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2017.
