On January 9, 2020, Nancy Sasamoto, Principal in Masuda Funai’s Employment, Labor and Benefits Practice Group, will be speaking on the topic of “Employment Law – Seeing the Issues Clearly for 2020” at a professional development event in Schaumburg, Illinois sponsored by the Northwest Human Resources Council (NHRC). The program will cover the most significant employment law developments in 2019, including an overview of the Illinois Workplace Transparency Act, which enacts key changes to the Illinois Human Rights Act and Victims Economic Security and Safety Act (VESSA), and requires employers to provide harassment prevention training annually. The NHRC contributes to the growth and development of industry and commerce in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. In 1958 a group of personnel professionals, representing local, private and public organizations, began to meet for the purpose of sharing information and discussing mutual human resource issues. Today the membership is comprised of approximately 250+ Human Resource professionals.
