The Board of Directors of Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd. is pleased to announce the promotion of Esther Contreras to Income Principal effective January 1, 2015.
Based in the firm's Schaumburg office, Ms. Contreras joined the Immigration Group in 2008 and focuses her practice on counseling clients with complex immigration and nationality law issues. She works with companies to obtain immigrant and nonimmigrant visas and green card status for their employees, and she provides counseling on I-9 best practices, self-audits and staff training.
Ms. Contreras is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and serves as Vice-Chair of its Immigration and Nationality Committee. She is Vice-Chair of the Illinois Secretary of State and Attorney General Committee for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), where she also serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee. In addition, Ms. Contreras is a board member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, and she provides pro bono legal services through the Legal Assistance Foundation.
Ms. Contreras received a J.D. from the University of Illinois and a B.A. from Northwestern University.
